This BA diploma project was designed at UMPRUM (Prague, CZ) and School of Form (Poznań, PL). Its topic, “Transgression of Gender as a Place for Subversive Bodily Acts” aka “Talking about the Body Experiences”, examines the individual’s social position and identity through the aspect of sex and tries to find methods of transgressing gender boundaries. The publication consists Latin epigrams by Martialis, with translations into Polish (by Martinus Loch) and English (from the Loeb Library). In the role of commentary, the designer used the statements of contemporary feminists – parts of Judith Butler’s “Gender trouble. Feminism and the subversion of identity” and Donna Haraway’s “Cyborg Manifesto” – which provide a contemporary perspective on the Latin poems. The design establishes its own narrative, based on three distinct forms that evolve in parallel. Collages from photographs of people who were subject to subversive body interventions were used as illustrations. The 3D-printed cover was designed in collaboration with Martin Gsandtner. Its structures of organic noise were generated and extruded based on the collages.
Praca dyplomowa w School of Form i UMPRUM pod tytułem „Transgression of the Gender as a Place for Subversive Bodily Acts”. Publikacja składa się z epigramów napisanych przez Marcjalisa przetłumaczonych przez Martinusa Locha w języku polskim i angielskim z tłumaczeniem Loeb Library. Jako komentarza projektant użył fragmentów „Gender Troubles” Judith Butler i w „Manifestu Cyborga” Donna Haraway, aby wprowadzić feministyczną wizję współczesnych poematów. Jako ilustracje wykorzystał zdjęcia, które później zostały poddane dekonstrukcji w celu stworzenia cyborgów „osobowości”. Okładka drukowana w technologii 3D (wykonana przy wsp.łpracy z Martin Gsandtner) ma organiczną formę, kt.ra została uzyskana poprzez parametrię kolaży.
