Initially, the “When We Were Astronauts” album was intended as an alternative soundtrack for a certain sci-fi movie – the compositions were created to illustrate its scenes and sequences. As the process continued, the album evolved into a wide-ranging impression on childhood fantasies about becoming a cosmonaut, heavily drawing upon 80s nostalgia and several more or less kitschy sci-fi movies. The Gatefold cover features fluorescent printed elements.
Pierwotnie album „When We Were Astronauts” miał być alternatywnym soundtrackiem do filmu science fiction – szkice kolejnych utworów powstawały jako ilustracja do scen i sekwencji filmu. Im bardziej album nabierał kształtu, tym bardziej stawał się impresją na temat dziecięcych marzeń o byciu kosmonautą, mocno przefiltrowanych przez nostalgię lat 80. i liczne mniej lub bardziej kiczowate filmy SF (lub s.f.). Okładka typu Gatefold została wydrukowana z fluorescencyjnymi elementami.
