Concept and design for Rafał Milach’s art book “The First March of Gentlemen”, which presents a fictional narrative composed of authentic stories. Historical events associated to the city of Września are the starting point for deliberation on the methods of protest and discipline. In a series of collages, the realities of 1950’s communist Poland intertwine with the recollection of the children’s strike in Wrzesnia, which took place in the beginning of the 20th century. The problems the project addresses are universal and can be seen as a metaphor for contemporary social tensions.
Koncept i projekt artbooka „The First March of Gentlemen” Rafała Milacha, który przedstawia fikcyjną narrację złożoną z autentycznych opowieści. Wydarzenia historyczne związane z miastem Wrześnią stały się punktem wyjścia do refleksji nad mechanizmami protestacyjnymi i dyscyplinarnymi. W cyklu kolaży realia lat 50. Polski rządzonej przez komunistów mieszają się z pamięcią o strajku dzieci we Wrześni na początku XX wieku. Problemy, których dotyka projekt, są uniwersalne i mogą być postrzegane jako metafora współczesnych napięć społecznych.
